About us

Hi, I'm Nina.

My name is Nina Li, and Dabao is my way of sharing the food I love most: Chinese home cooking, the kind made at home and eaten around a table, not the kind adapted until it is unrecognisable.

I wanted the flavours of a real Chinese kitchen to be easy to bring into everyday life in Stockholm. Not as an outing, but as dinner on an ordinary evening when there is no time. So I cook the food ahead, in small batches and without hurry, and make it simple to take home.

The name 打包, dabao, roughly means packing your food to take home. That is exactly what this is: food from my kitchen to your table, with nothing lost on the way.

How we work

From the pot to the freezer, step by step

We want you to know exactly how the food is handled. This is the whole way, from our kitchen to your freezer.

  1. 1

    Cooked from scratch

Every dish is cooked in our kitchen in small batches, with the same methods and the same patience as at home. No ready-made sauces, no shortcuts.

  2. 2

    Chilled quickly

Straight after cooking, the food is chilled quickly under controlled conditions. Fast chilling is what keeps both flavour and quality.

  3. 3

    Frozen and labelled

Then the boxes are portioned, labelled and frozen. You collect them or receive them frozen, and they keep in the freezer until you are hungry.

Every box is labelled with contents and allergens. If you have questions about how something is made, just ask.

Ingredients

Carefully chosen ingredients

Good Chinese food starts with good ingredients. We choose meat, vegetables and tofu with care and source the spices, pastes and sauces that give each dish its character, not the ones that happen to be closest to hand.

Vegetables follow the season, and when an ingredient is not up to standard we change the dish rather than lower the bar. That is why one dish on the menu changes over time.

A small kitchen with big pots

Dabao is a small operation, and that is the point. It means I know what is in every box, that I taste every batch, and that you can reach me directly if something does not feel right.
